Full Chimney Stack Rebuild, Repointing & Lead Flashing Renewal

This project involved the complete restoration of a severely weathered chimney stack that had suffered long-term deterioration. The original brickwork was crumbling, the mortar joints had failed, and the render on the top section had broken away, leaving the stack structurally compromised and allowing water to penetrate the roof below. Our team carried out a full rebuild and made the chimney safe, watertight and fit for many years to come. We began by stripping back the defective masonry and removing all loose, damaged and moss-covered material. The top section of the stack was fully dismantled and rebuilt using matching bricks to restore the original height, shape and appearance. The entire chimney was then repointed using a strong, weather-resistant mortar to stabilise the structure and prevent future water ingress. A new chimney crown was formed with a smooth, durable finish designed to shed water efficiently and protect the flue openings. Existing terminals were refitted and securely bedded into place. Once the structure was restored, we renewed all surrounding lead flashings, soakers and back gutters, ensuring a complete watertight seal between the chimney and the tiled roof. The finished chimney not only looks clean and well-restored but is now fully protected against weather damage and further deterioration.
